2013 October/November Membership Contest

A New Kind of Contest with a Great Prize

Greetings from Al Zalewski, who was brought back, kicking and screaming,  from northern Saskatchewan fishing for giant northern pike to succeed the admirable Ralph Van Winkle, who did a superb job as your State National Committeeman for  the past 6 years.

At President Gleim’s Summer Roundtable, and later fleshed out at our Planning and Development Committee meeting, we came up with a neat idea for a contest you can really WIN something pretty darn cool:

A 6 Night, 7 Day Vacation at our beautiful home in Sunriver, Oregon!

Have you heard of Sunriver?  Here’s the scoop:

Enjoy a beautiful completely furnished 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath home with full kitchen, dining room, full laundry room, living room with wood burning stove, free WIFI, cable flat screen TV, VCR/DVD, outdoor decks with gas BBQ grill and private hot tub with easy lift cover, a loft with foosball table, arcade video game, and a sleeping futon, accommodating up to 8 people.

Nestled in the pine trees in the heart of Sunriver Resort, you’ll view deer during the day walking through the yard and the Milky Way at night.  Sunriver boasts 30 miles of quiet hiking and biking trails – this house includes the use of 8 bikes to use while you’re there.  There are two championship golf courses to play, and many more in the surrounding area.  There is a brand new Aquatics/Recreation Center boasting huge outdoor pools for children and adults, a lazy river ride, two water slides, hot tubs, and a huge indoor pool complex and recreation center, plus horseback riding, canoeing on the Deschutes River, white water rafting, all kinds of fishing.  There is now a Mavericks health club with racquetball courts, exercise equipment, a juice bar, a Flow-Rider Wave Machine, and a climbing wall.  The Sunriver Nature Center and the Observatory are open too.  And don’t forget the shopping – it’s all tax free in Oregon!

It’s only 17 miles to world famous Mount Bachelor, a 9,000 foot tall destination ski resort.  The skiing in winter is fantastic, and the Cascade Lakes Loop road with its several dozen lakes all round Bachelor is one of the most scenic in America.   The High Desert Museum and the Lava Caves are very interesting sights too.

Sunriver Resort has a Village Mall with country grocery store, restaurants, and shops: be sure to check out Goodies, their famous ice cream shop/soda fountain.  Not enough?  Head to Bend and check out the Factory Outlet Mall for bargains.  Tired?  Relax at cocktails and dinner at Anthony’s along the river next door.  There’s always plenty to see and do in Sunriver.  If you’re lucky, be there to see the next production of the Sunriver Stars Community Theater; the first year’s five productions have been a hoot!  They even feature dinner theater on Saturday night.

Did I mention that Sunriver boasts 300 Days of Sunshine a Year?

Want to see more?  Check out some photos and see for yourself!

Now, to make this interesting, this is a NEW MEMBER Recruiting Contest!
And you can WIN!

For each person who recruits 10 new members, you win!

But to make it even more fun, if you like, you can form a “Team” with a maximum of 3 team members, and your combined efforts to net 10 new members will result in a prize of the 6 nights, 7 days, subject to availability, of course.  (Fine print: This excludes Christmas and New Years, when I’m there.)

So you have two ways to win…on your own, or drag along some buddies and share the place. This is a perfect family vacation, so only team up with your true friends who know the value of NAIFA membership.  The contest starts as soon as you read this; past recruits don’t count.  But the contest runs until State Convention next May.  How about that?  Get ready, set, go…get new members!!!
